The entourage of Pret A Diner is back in London to present ‘The Bohemians – from Rogues to Royals’ at Hotel Cafe Royal. I attended their launch event to get a preview of what the quirky pop-up restaurant has in store for its four-week residency in London.
The Bohemians will celebrate the clashing of cultures and the reconciliation of opposites, making for a truly unique dining experience.
“To all the wanderers, adventurers and vagabonds: Let’s all live the unconventional lifestyle, enjoy the company of like-minded people, indulge in delicious food, music and inspiring art.”
Hotel Cafe Royal’s Domino Room was transformed with neon lighting, caucuses, towering bouquets of flowers and walls adorned with artwork curated by The Unit London. It all came together to create an immersive dining atmosphere of quirky decadence.
Bohemian Punch: Gin and jasmine tea.
The team of Pret a Diner chefs features a Michelin-star-studded line up: Hotel Café Royal‘s very own Executive Chef, Andrew Turner, along with two New York-based rising talents, Chef Patti Jackson and Chef Ryan Tate.
Tuna Carpaccio and Gentleman’s Relish (by Chef Andrew Turner). At first glance the food was eye-catching and presented beautifully, utilising modern cooking techniques.
Pea and Sorrel (by Ryan Tate), Cheese and Truffle (by Andrew Turner), Baltimore Style Crab, Pickled Ramps and Dutchy pretzels (by Patti Jackson).
We were incredibly impressed by the evening’s food and wonderful wine pairings. That’s not to mention the splendid setting – everything worked together to create an unforgettable dining experience.
Next, it was time for some cocktails. The Club at Hotel Cafe Royal has collaborated with Dominic Jacobs from The Whip, Mayfair to create a drinks menu that will see a “Boho revolution in Soho”.
Cocktail: ‘Dikki Dikki’ containing sloe gin, honey whiskey, peach essence and champagne.
From the décor and artwork to the cocktails and the colourful dishes on the menu – everything worked in synergy to create an immersive experience, making it perhaps one of the most exciting places to dine out in London right now. The Pret A Diner pop-up restaurant will be at Hotel Cafe Royal from 21st April until 23rd May. I’d highly recommend experiencing it for yourself, while it’s here!
