For some time I had been in the market to find the perfect work bag. I had several high street totes fail on me after just a few months and so I decided enough was enough. I was going to invest in a bag that was attractive, good quality and durable. I happened across the Prada Double Bag and decided that it had all of the makings of a perfect work bag. After eyeing it up for a few months, I knew my feelings were not going to go away and so I finally brought it.
I’ve had my Prada Double Bag for around 6 months now and have used it pretty much every day for work since I got it and it still looks immaculate. Spoiler alert – I’m very pleased with my purchase. Read on to find out exactly why!
Size. I opted for the large size as the medium and small did not have enough room to fit my 11’ MacBook in. Despite it being in the biggest size, it’s not a massive bag. It’s big enough to fit in all of my day-to-day work essentials, without looking massive on me. As I’m quite petite, I try to avoid bags that are too big as they don’t look in proportion on me. The double compartments keep everything really organised – I know some bags are like a bottomless pit, which drives me mad.
Colourways. What really sold this particular bag to me is the black and pink colourway that it comes in (unfortunately my exact bag seems to be out of stock on the Prada website but the black and red is still available). I don’t think I could have designed a bag more to my preference. The durable, black Saffiano leather exterior looks smart and the rose blush, Nappa leather interior adds a touch of femininity to the bag. The hardware is gold too, which ties everything together nicely.
Shoulder strap. The Prada Double Bag comes with a shoulder strap. My qualm with it is that it’s far too long on me, even on the shortest setting, so I’ve not used it once. I’m considering taking it to the bootmaker to see if they can add some extra holes in it, which isn’t ideal. However, I don’t think this bag looks particularly flattering when worn with the shoulder strap so I’m not too hung up on it.
Customer service (or should I say, lack thereof). Let me preface this section with a little disclaimer – things are about to get very #FirstWorldProblems. But for the sake of reviewing the overall purchasing experience, it’s something to consider. I ordered this bag directly from the Prada UK website and it turned out to be one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had, ever. It was supposed to take between 2-4 working days for the order to be confirmed and shipped, however by the 4th day, there was still radio silence. There were at least two occasions where a customer service associate promised to get back to me about the bag’s status and when I should expect to receive it but never did. For the 9 days it took to arrive, I was kept pretty much in the dark. Having paid Prada a pretty penny, it would have been lovely to know that there was indeed a bag on its way to me! This absolutely puts me off ordering from the Prada website in the future and I’d prefer to purchase through Selfridges, Farfetch, Outnet etc in the future.
Worth the money? Despite the ropey customer service, I am very happy with my purchase. The Prada Double bag is classic and incredibly well made. As I mentioned, I have been wearing it pretty much non-stop since I got it and there are no visible signs of wear or tear. It was an expensive buy so I’d like to get a lot of use out of it and from what I’ve seen, I’m sure that will be the case. When it comes to purchases these days, I’m all about quality over quantity. I would much rather have a really good trusty bag that will see me through years than have a mid-range bag that breaks and needs replacing every quarter. You can get the Prada Double Bag in a selection of colours here.
Today’s deep and meaningful blog post comes in the form of my current luxury wishlist. In all seriousness, I really like having a ‘lust list’ because I find it motivating. It’s nice to have something in mind to save for and treat yourself to, for a special occasion or...
I seem to have a new and unintended ‘hobby’ – recently, I can’t seem to get enough of luxury fashion hauls and unboxing blogs/videos. Frivolous I know but hear me out. It’s really quite strange because before, even the name ‘haul’ would make me shiver with...
