In need of a few days away – and craving a reliable dose of sun, sea, and sangria – Palma felt like exactly the right choice. When it comes to an effortlessly lovely minibreak in Europe, Spain rarely disappoints. It’s one of those places that immediately gives you that familiar “I could live here” feeling, where life seems to move at just the right pace and everything feels a little lighter.

Palma de Mallorca, set on the island of Mallorca, more than lived up to expectations. There’s something wonderfully manageable about it – there’s enough to see and do to fill a few days with ease, yet never so much that you feel rushed or like you’ve missed anything out. You can wander through the old town, pause for a drink by the marina, and still have time to stretch out on the beach, all without needing a rigid itinerary.

What stood out just as much was how safe and comfortable it felt. There’s a calm, easy atmosphere that makes it simple to switch off, slow down, and properly unwind. Whether strolling through quiet streets in the evening or sitting out late with a glass in hand, it’s the kind of place that encourages you to relax into it – and that, more than anything, is what makes it so appealing.
