Air France recently put on a rather special soirée for its partners, in celebration of the airline’s legacy and future.  The event featured a runway showcase of Air France’s flight crew uniforms, created by some of the hottest fashion designers, dating from the present day right back to the 1930s and its first commercial flights.  I was lucky enough to be invited along for the ride!

In essence of the high-life, it was hosted at altitude at the top of the Millbank Tower, the tallest building in the City of Westminster, which boats stunning views across London.  It was an evening of chocolates, champagne and gorgeous models.  A winning combination if you ask me!

There were some heavenly sweet things to nibble on, courtesy of La Maison du chocolat, one of Paris’s top chocolatiers.  It was enough to make anyone crave a trip to Paris for the chocolate alone!  After indulging in a fair amount of chocolate and champagne, the catwalk show got underway.  Over the years, the Air France uniforms have been designed by some of the hottest fashion designers in the world including Balenciaga and Christian Dior.

The models looked incredible in their vintage outfits – there’s always something fascinating about flight crew, from the glamorous outfits to the jetset lifestyle.  However it wasn’t just the models that were the main talking point of the event, Air France had imported in one of the new business class seats for us to test out, which are ultra-comfortable and spacious.  The seat fully reclines so you can sleep in comfort.

Felicia and I were lucky enough to get whisked backstage for a quick preview of the model’s outfits and to have a quick chat, although they were rather busy with guzzling champagne and pizza!

After the catwalk, there was more mingling and champagne.  Of course, we had to get a few snaps of the stunning view before we left.  It’s safe to say that Air France know how to put on a stylish event.  Before we knew it, it was time to head home.  I suppose you could say that the evening flew by (haha sorry, I just couldn’t resist).
